Scoreboard:
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 2, Columbus Clippers 1 (F/7 - Delayed Start) - Statcast
Akron RubberDucks 7, Erie SeaWolves 3
Lake County Captains 3, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 1
Lynchburg Hillcats 2, Salem Red Sox 1
Highlights:
Cooper Ingle (DH, Akron): 3-for-5, 2 R - The leadoff man Ingle did just what he was tasked to do in a 3-for-5 effort. It is his first multi-hit game since July 12 and he was previously 3-for-33 since that date. In the course of the season at large, a small slump in sample size, so nothing to get worked up about and hopefully this is the start of a turnaround in the dog days of summer.
Josh Hartle (SP, Lake County): W (8-2), 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 3 Ks, HBP - Hartle made it three straight starts where he pitched five or more shutout innings as he concluded his red-hot month of July. The Wake Forest product has a 1.35 ERA with a .152 batting average against and 30 strikeouts in five starts this month (26.2 IP). After he overcame a slow start in High-A, Hartle has had five shutout appearances in his last nine games and has looked tremendous in doing so.

Juneiker Caceres (RF, Lynchburg): 2-for-4, R, 2B, PO - The 17-year-old made his Single-A debut with the Hillcats on Wednesday and took little time adjusting to a new level of play with a pair of hits and his first extra-base hit with a key double in the bottom of the ninth. He would come around to score as the game’s tying run after Lynchburg was shut out through the first eight innings of play. He will face growing pains such as being picked off, but at his age, he is in a better position than most, if not everyone, in the organization looking at a bright future.
Rafe Schlesinger (SP, Lynchburg): 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 8 Ks - The former fourth round selection tied his season-high with eight punchouts in his five innings of shutout ball on against Salem. The key to success for Schlesinger was strikeouts early in an inning - the first four innings saw the left-hander record a K on the inning’s opening batter, and innings one through three started with two up, two down all on strikes.
Notable Performances:
Matt Krook (RP, Columbus): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 2 Ks - Krook had a 1-2-3 inning in relief to break a streak of three straight contests where he surrendered at least one run.
Will Wilson (3B, Columbus): 1-for-3, BB - Wilson drew the only walk of the shortened game and was the lone man in the Clippers lineup to reach base twice in this his third game back in Triple-A after a stint with the Guardians.
Steven Perez (RP, Akron): H (4), 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 0 Ks - The lefty has had a phenomenal month of July where he has allowed just one run in 14.1 innings pitched with the RubberDucks. Perez did not record a strikeout, but all five of his outs came on groundballs.
Alaska Abney (RP, Akron): 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BBs, K - Abney made his affiliate debut in 2025 on Wednesday with an inning of work for Akron that resulted in a zero.
Matt Jachec (RP, Akron): 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 2 Ks - Jachec is working his way back after an injury as well and tossed a scoreless ninth inning to secure the win for the RubberDucks for his third straight appearance without allowing a run.
Jake Fox (CF, Akron): 2-for-4, RBI, SB - Fox has reached base multiple times in each of his last three games and drove in a run on Wednesday in the midst of a four-run first inning.
Cameron Barstad (C, Akron): 1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBIs, SF - In two separate at-bats, the 24-year-old was able to bring home runs for Akron. Barstad capped off the lopsided first inning with a sacrifice fly and then a double scored one more in the fifth while a second run on that play was cut down at the plate.
Tyresse Turner (3B, Akron): 1-for-4, R, HR, RBI - It took 176 plate appearances, but Turner slugged his first homerun of 2025 with a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth to widen the RubberDucks’ lead.
Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lake County): 1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBIs - Knapczyk had the biggest hit of the day for the offense with a two-run double that took the lead from 1-0 to 3-0 and gave the Captains some much-needed insurance, especially given the comeback effort in the eighth and ninth innings by the Timber Rattlers.
Jaison Chourio (CF, Lake County): 1-for-3, BB - Chourio was able to reach base twice, but the highlight for the 20-year-old was a sliding catch to preserve the shut out at the time in the sixth.
Jay Driver (RP, Lake County): H (3), 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 0 Ks - All four batters Driver faced hit the ball on the ground, but one was able to work its way through the infield for a single. Nonetheless, it was a scoreless seventh for the 23-year-old.
Conner Whittaker (RP, Lynchburg): 3.0 IP, 2 H, R, 0 ER, 0 BBs, 3 Ks - An error in the seventh pushed across the lone run for the Red Sox and that fell under the ledger of Whittaker to no fault of his own. The 22-year-old was effective in his relief appearance by peppering the zone (45 pitches, 32 strikes) and he has allowed just one earned run this month (0.66 ERA in 13.1 IP).
Luis Flores (RP, Lynchburg): W (4-1), 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BBs, 2 Ks - His fourth straight appearance with a zero led to him being in position for the pitching win on the walk-off. Back-to-back walks to begin his outing probably made the home faithful a little nervous, but he rebounded with consecutive strikeouts to work his way out of the ninth inning jam.
Jeffrey Mercedes (2B, Lynchburg): 1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBIs, DP - The 20-year-old switch hitter played the role of hero with a walk-off double that plated the only two runs of the game for Lynchburg, but the only two they needed for a victory.
Logun Clark (C, Lynchburg): 2-for-3, PB - The catcher Clark was one of two players in the Hillcats lineup with multiple hits, his first since June 20.

Scoreboard
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 5, Columbus Clippers 3
Erie SeaWolves 11, Akron RubberDucks 5
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 5, Lake County Captains 4
Salem Red Sox 4, Lynchburg Hillcats 2
DSL Guardians Goryl 4, DSL Pirates Gold 1
DSL Guardians Mendoza 5, DSL Orioles Orange 3
Highlights
Jhonkensy Noel (1B, Columbus): 2-4, HR, 2K - Noel is still hitting mammoth homers for Columbus and has some strikeouts as well. It’s just hard to see where his opportunity comes from, unless they swap him back in for Johnathan Rodriguez, who never plays, and Noel needs to play. But he’s also out of options next year, so his future is uncertain right now for Cleveland and in major league baseball.
Will Wilson (3B, Columbus); 3-4, 2B, HR, RBI- Wilson has an OPS over .900 in Columbus, if you still need a reminder of the massive gap between Triple-A and the majors.

Juneiker Cacares (DH, Lynchburg): 2-4, 2B - The 17 year old outfielder has had a nice start to his affiliate career with a few extra base hits this week and this was another multihit game for him.
Notable Performances
CJ Kayfus (LF, Columbus): 1-3, BB - Kayfus continues to find time in the outfield, but Cleveland still remains uncommitted to trying him in the outfield in the majors for his debut, and with Carlos Santana and David Fry getting at bats, we have no idea where his opportunity is coming from in 2025.
Wuilfredo Antunez (RF, Akron): 2-3, 2B, RBI, BB - A really nice box score day for Antunez, who continues to be interesting and have some tools but needs more consistency.
Travis Bazzana (2B, Akron): 0-3, 2BB - Bazzana worked two walks but didn’t come up with a hit.
Alfonsin Rosario (RF, Lake County): 1-4, HR, RBI - Rosario has had some ebbs and flows recently but still has 16 homers now and should get a chance in Akron sometime before the year ends out.
Ryan Cesarini (CF, Lynchburg): 1-3, 3B, BB, SB - Cesarini has been much better lately on paper which I’ve been looking for all year.
Heins Brito (SS, DSL Goryl): 2-5, 2 RBI, 3K, E - Brito is having some nice moments this year as a 17 year old but has had a tough year overall.
Jose Riera (2B, DSL Mendoza): 2-4, SB, RBI - Like Brito, Riera had had nice moments as a 17 year old but overall it has been a tough year.

Doughty dominates, Bazzana heats back up, Valera homers

Scoreboard:
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 9, Columbus Clippers 1 - Statcast
Erie SeaWolves 10, Akron RubberDucks 3
Lake County Captains 7, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 2
Salem Red Sox 1, Lynchburg Hillcats 0
DSL Brewers Blue 14, DSL Guardians Mendoza 3
DSL Guardians Goryl 4, DSL Padres Gold 3
Highlights:
George Valera (RF, Columbus): 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K - While Valera’s 102.7 MPH solo shot to right in the third was the fourth-longest round-tripper of the day in Triple-A, it was even more notable as his first extra-base hit of the year as a Clipper - a feat over four months and a pair of rehab stints in the making.
Travis Bazzana (2B, Akron): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB - Despite joining the rest of the RubberDuck in not doing much against SeaWolves starter Garrett Burhenn, Bazzanna led the way in the late-game offensive resurgence against the Erie bullpen, helping him reach base multiple times for the third time in as many games played this week at the Corner of State and Main.

Alfonsin Rosario (RF, Lake County): 2-4, 2 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB - Rosario continued his dominance of Timber Rattler pitching with his second straight four-base game, following up Thursday night’s homer with a pair of Friday night doubles.
Jackson Humphries (SP, Lake County): W (1-8), 5 IP, 2 H, 2 R (both earned), 5 BB, 1 WP, 8 K - While individual victories are nowhere near as meaningful as they used to be, especially in the minor leagues, it is nice to see Humphries pick up his first at the High-A level, especially after taking a no-decision despite allowing one earned run in 5.2 frames in his previous start.
Jeffrey Mercedes (starting 3B, Lynchburg): 3-4 - Despite not extending his double and multi-RBI streaks to three games, Mercedes did get a trio of hits - all that stood between the Lynchburg side and getting no-hit - to bring his statline for the series to 6-for-13 with two doubles and four RBI
Braylon Doughty (SP, Lynchburg): L (0-7), 5.2 IP, 6 H, 1 R (earned), 7 K - Doughty was in a similar position to Humphries - pitching well in a bid for his first individual victory of the season (in his case, the first of his career), in fact he was pitching better than Jackson - but failed to come away with the elusive W thanks to an utter lack of offensive support. For anyone wondering why wins have such minimal value in evaluation, nights like this are why.
Randy Baron (RP, DSL Goryl): H (2), 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 2 Ks - The right-handed relief pitcher had nerves of steel at just 17-years-old when he entered the game on Friday with the bases loaded in the seventh clinging to a one-run lead. The advantage would hold after Baron got a strikeout to close the inning and then twirled a perfect eighth for the hold. He has thrown five consecutive scoreless frames.
Notable Performances:
Yordys Valdes (2B, Columbus): 1-3, 1 2B, Picked Off 1 time - Valdes was removed from the basepaths on a rally-killing 2-5 pickoff after leading off the sixth with a double - the only other Clipper hit of the evening.
Tyresse Turner (3B, Akron): 1-2, 1 R, 2 BB - Turner, who scored on Bazzana's RBI, was the other RubberDuck to reach thrice on Friday night.
Jake Fox (CF, Akron): 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B - Fox, who began his night exchanging the lineup card for the Mallards of Main Street, finished it by doubling to lead off the bottom of the ninth and scoring the final run of the evening on a crazy wild pitch/E2 sequence.
Juan Benjamin (2B, Lake County): 2-4, 1 R, 1 CS - Benjamin opened August with a two-hit performance after wrapping up July going 2-for-13 across his last four games of the month.
Sean Heppner (RP, Lynchburg): 2 IP, 1 H, 1 K - Heppner has only allowed three runs since June 17 and they were all in the same outing on July 8 (12.1 scoreless innings across the other eight outings in that stretch).
Jose Riera (DH, DSL Mendoza): 1-for-3, 3B, RBI, HBP, CS - The 17-year-old drove in a run for the third consecutive game via an RBI triple in the top of the first and was hit by a pitch to reach base twice in total.
Gustavo Baptista (DSL Goryl): 3-for-4, R - Baptista had three hits on Friday, all of them singles. It is his second three-hit game of the season, the first coming all the way back on June 3.
Steven Cruz (RF, DSL Goryl): 2-for-4 - Cruz was the other man in the DSL Goryl lineup with multiple hits. The leadoff man makes it ten straight games where he has reached base following the win.
Wuinder Torres (C, DSL Goryl): 1-for-3, 3B, 2 RBIs, SF, PO - Torres did a little bit of everything in Friday’s game - including a triple that drove in a run and was the team’s only extra-base hit. Defensively, he also had a backpick to first base for an out.
Enderson Amaya (SP, DSL Goryl): 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 BBs, 4 Ks - Amaya was able to grind his way through six complete innings despite getting touched up for a couple of runs. Zero walks on his ledger was a big part in that, his second straight start without allowing a free base.
Algeni Mejia (RP, DSL Goryl): S (1), 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BBs, K - The previously mentioned pickoff from Torres came after a leadoff single in the ninth that helped Mejia pick up his first save of the season.

Bazzana goes OFF, Messick dominates, Chourio finding success?
Justin Lada and Matthew Kennell
Aug 3
Scoreboard
Columbus Clippers 8, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 0
Erie SeaWolves 6, Akron RubberDucks 5
Lake County Captains 5, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 1
Salem Red Sox 6, Lynchburg Hillcats 3
DSL Guardians Mendoza 8, DSL Guardians Goryl 0
Highlights
Parker Messick (SP, Columbus): 5.2IP, H, 2BB, 6K - Messick was 92-94 with the four seam and he also broke out his little used sinker very effectively in this one too. He also only threw 82 pitches and almost finished the sixth inning. He probably could have gone deeper but that’s a decently efficient start for Messick, something that has been a point of emphasis this year.
Milan Tolentino (2B, Columbus): 2-3, 2 HR, 4 RBI, BB - The 2020 4th rounder is enjoying the highest slugging success of his career, mostly thanks to his .590 SLG in the hitters haven of Huntington Park and .376 on the road. So if he can just hit in Huntington Park for the rest of his career, things should be fine.

Travis Bazzana (2B, Akron): 3-5, 2B, HR, 3 RBI - Bazzana is getting pretty hot, almost hitting for the cycle here and hitting a game tying three run homer in the ninth. There were some ill-advised questions about the pick with what Nick Kurtz was doing and Bazzana is ready to put an end to that concern.
Angel Genao (SS, Akron): 2-5, 2B, RBI- Bazzana and Genao are maybe the most exciting keystone combo this organization has had since Lindor/Ramirez and that might sound like hyperbole, but Bazzana is more hyped than Ramirez was, because Ramirez was underrated and it’s very hard to predict a Hall of Fame career for anyone, let alone someone who signs for $50,000. But Genao is the most exciting shortstop prospect since Lindor, yes, even more than Rocchio or Arias - for good reason.
Jaison Chourio (CF, Lake County); 4-5, 2B, 3 RBI - Really good to see this kind of performance by Chourio, who has been having a tough year between health and general struggles. It feels like he was never able to get on track and the approach has been hard to watch sometimes, but maybe this will be the start of a great end of the year run. He did have wrist surgery last year, too, so perhaps that, compared with the shoulder injury, made it hard for him to get on track right away this year.
Juneiker Cacares (CF, Lynchburg): 2-4, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, 2K - Caceres is showing some good extra base hits power this week including his first homer. The not quite 18 year old is acclimating himself well to affiliate ball so far.
Joey Oakie (SP, Lynchburg): 3IP, 4H, ER, BB, 2K - Oakie used 63 pitches to get nine outs in his affiliate debut, which went pretty well for the debut considering some of his struggles this year in the ACL.
Romer Taveras (CF, DSL Mendoza): 3-for-4, 2 R, 3B, 2 RBIs, SB - Taveras has struggled mightily since being moved to the DSL Mendoza squad from the DSL Goryl team, but Saturday was the best performance in the month he’s been on the roster with three hits, including RBIs on his single in the seventh and triple in the ninth. The left-handed hitting outfielder does have eight RBIs in 15 games with DSL Mendoza after he added two in the win.
Nomar Velasquez (LF, DSL Mendoza): 3-for-4, 2 R, RBI - Velasquez recorded three base hits as well for the DSL Mendoza squad and he got the scoring started in the fifth inning of a lopsided victory. He drove in the first run of the contest with an RBI single back up the middle. 12 RBIs ties his career-high in his fourth season in the DSL.
Notable Performances
Jhonkensy Noel (DH, Columbus): 2-3, RBI - No strikeouts and two non-homers for Noel, maybe is a decent thing, because he could use an approach where he’s not all or nothing.
Trevor Stephan (RP, Columbus): IP, 2K - One of the best results based performances for Stephan since he’s come back from Tommy John. He’s no longer on rehab and optioned to Columbus. Despite the results, Stephan only topped out at 90 on the fastball, so this is starting to get worrying about his velo, which was 94-97 pre injury/surgery.
Steven Perez (RP, Akron): 2IP, 3H, BB, 3K - It took 36 pitches for Perez to retire six batters and that includes four extra hitters and three strikeouts. Pretty good performance as he raises his relief profile a bit better.
Caden Favors (SP, Lake County): 6IP, 4H, ER, BB, 5K - It’s been an up and down year for Favors - he’s had some pretty good outings, but a lot of very troubling ones because his command from college hasn’t translated here. But other outings like this you want to believe it’s still there and he’s just adjusting.
Tyler Naquin (RP, Lake County): 2IP, H, BB, 2K - Naquin is still unscored upon in affiliate action at Lake County and seems to be progressing well. Maybe there’s a chance he sees Akron towards the end of the year so he can get to Columbus next year.
Alejandro Rivera (SP, DSL Mendoza): 4.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BBs, 5 Ks, WP - Rivera was able to keep the shutout intact despite three hits that were all line drive singles, and he walked a few batters. The shutout through nearly five innings preserves the ERA that is below one at 0.76 in nine starts.
Antwan Montana (RP, DSL Mendoza): W (3-3), 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BBs, K - Montana has to limit his walks and even though it did not burn him today, it has in game’s past. He has ten in his last four appearances after two in six batters faced on Saturday.
Abraham Negrin (RP, DSL Mendoza): 2.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BBs, 0 Ks - Negrin continues to toss zeros as he extended his scoreless streak to 12.2 innings in a row. They tried to get him to the finish line for the three-inning save, however two singles surrendered in the ninth forced a call to the bullpen.
Carlos Sanchez (RP, DSL Mendoza): 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 0 Ks - The 17-year-old induced a couple of groundouts to finish the game for the DSL Mendoza team.
Sebastian Cadiz (1B, DSL Mendoza): 1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBIs, 2 DPs - A two-run double kept Cadiz going in the month of August after a great July in the DSL.
Rodny Rosario (SS, DSL Goryl): 1-for-2, 2 BBs, SB, DP - The 17-year-old reached base three times in four plate appearances despite the loss and it is the fifth consecutive game where he has reached base multiple times.

I'd take a more positive view of Oakie's season; he struggled April-June but finished strong in Arizona. and his Lynchburg debut \was OK.
Fellow Arizona graduate Juneiker Caceres, only age 17, is off go a great start with the Hillcats,. 2 singles again today, to keep his average at 500 with 8 hits in 16 at bats That includes three doubles and a homer. In Arizona he hit 289, walking 3 times for every 2 strikeouts.
Might have to replace Chourio as our kid CF to watch. The latter with a single and 3 strikeouts today, Hitting over 200 at last but zero power
Velezaquez stays hot at the plate, 2 singles today.
Genao 2 singles and a steal on Sunday, Ingle single and walk.
in AAA Peterson bounced back with 5 good innings, no earned runs, 5 K/1BB

Cleveland Guardians Prospect Report 8/4-5/25
Ralphy Velazquez stays hot, Hartle and Schlesinger continue to impress
Ralphy Velazquez (LF, Lake County): 1-5, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K - Velazquez continues to put the Rake in Rake County, with his 15th dinger of the campaign accounting for half of the scoring in the Captains’ blowout victory in Southwest Ohio. Since the start of July, Ralphy is slashing .319/.390/.532. He should be making the first of two trips down 271 in the very near future.
Josh Hartle (SP, Lake County): W (9-2), 5 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 4 K - Since a pair of two-run starts against the Dragons in early July, Hartle has literally been untouchable, allowing no runs of any kind in 21 innings across four outings. [with Ortiz suspended for how long we don't know, Hartle may be the main return for Giminez]
Rafe Schlesinger (SP, Lynchburg): W (4-6), 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R (earned), 2 BB, 1 WP, 6 K - Schlesinger goes five full frames allowing one or less runs for the second straight week. Hopefully, he can keep this hot streak going on Sunday.
Dylan DeLucia (SP, Akron): ND, 5.1 IP, 2 H, 4 BB, 4 K - DeLucia resumed normal service after allowing three earned runs in last week’s start with this dominant effort. While walks continued to be an issue (7 BBs in his last 2 G/10.2 IP equal his total from his previous 5 G/27 IP), he kept said baserunners from crossing the plate, unlike last Wednesday.
Alaska Abney (RP, Akron): S (1), 1 IP, 1 BB, 2 K - Abney continued his solid start to his non-rehab activity this season with his third outing/inning free from earned runs as he earned his first save in his first multi-strikeout frame of this Double-A season.
Esteban Gonzalez (RF, Lake County): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 RBI - The Caps’ other corner outfielder on Tuesday was no clutch in the power department, either, picking up the middle half of the cycle, bring his total base count over his last eight games to 19 (.613 SLG and .290 ISO in that stretch).
Logun Clark (DH, Lynchburg): 2-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K - Clark’s three-run homer to left in the sixth was the clear highlight of the Hillcats’ series-opening blowout. It was also Clark’s second extra-base hit in as many games (two-game stretch in which Logun is 5-for-9 with a double, homer, three runs scored, and four driven in).
Garrett Howe (SS, Lynchburg): 3-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 K - Howe broke out of an extended slump with a three-hit outburst that equaled his hit production from his last ten games combined.
Jhonkensy Noel (1B, Columbus): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 K - Noel’s fifth multi-hit game in his last ten provided most of the offense for the Clippers on a rough Tuesday night at the Corner of Neil and Nationwide.
Ryan Webb (SP, Columbus): L (4-6), 6.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R (all earned), 1 BB, 1 HBP, 9 K, 1 HR allowed, 1 Pickoff - Not Webb’s best effort, but his longest outing of the season unsurprisingly came with a season-high in strikeouts as well as 16 whiffs - second-best in the IL last night behind Bubba Chandler’s 17 for Indianapolis (Pirates).
Joe Lampe (RF, Akron): 1-4, 1 RBI, 2 K, 1 Outfield Assist - Between being responsible for the RubberDucks’ lone RBI hit of the day and likely preventing a Baysox run by throwing out Chesapeake 1B Creed Willems trying to stretch out a couple in the top of the eighth, it can be argued that Lampe single-handedly won this game for the Mallards of Main Street.
Angel Genao (SS, Akron): 1-4 - Genao’s first-inning single was the Ducks’ only other hit of the series opener - and also saw him reach safely for the 13th game out of his last 14.
Jonah Advincula (LF, Akron): 0-1, 1 RBI, 2 BB - Advincula had the other RBI on a bases loaded walk (more on how the eventual game-winning tally scored later).
Guy Lipscomb (CF, Akron): 0-1, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 SB - Lipscomb reached twice for the third straight game and fifth time in his current eight-game on-base streak.
Travis Bazzana (2B, Akron): 0-3, 1 R, 1 BB - Even on a quiet day, Bazzana finds a way to be in the middle of the action, scoring the first RubberDuck run of Tuesday afternoon and driving in the last - albeit without earning an RBI as it happened on a 4-6-3 double play. [but overall a rather disappointing first year especially compared with Weatherholt not to mention Kurtz]
Jaison Chourio (CF, Lake County): 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB - Chourio seems to be back in a groove, going 10-for-24 during his active six-game hitting streak. [finally hitting; someday he may even hit a double or a triple or even a homerun]
Xavier Martinez (RP, Lake County): 2 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K - Martinez (Xavier) remains unscored upon in High-A through four innings across two outings.
Izaak Martinez (RP, Lake County): 2 IP, 1 H, 1 K - Martinez (Izaak) has also been dominant against Midwest League hitting, allowing only two earned runs across his last 21.1 innings dating back to June 21.

BA followup on the 10 ACL players that they were more excited about. One was our Gabriel Rodriguez. Another our RHP Chase Mobley.
"Rodriguez displayed plenty of upside in a season shortened by injuries."
"About the only miss here was Mobley, who struggled mightily to throw strikes and finished with 18 walks in 17 innings over eight starts." [his final outing was his best: 3 shoutout innings, although he still walked 3.]
As it turned out Joey Oakie another of our teen pitchers in Arizona bloomed in August after his own rough start and is now pitching in Lynchburg

Cooper Ingle reaches new career bests; Ryan Cesarini homers for first High-A hit
Highlights
Will Dion (SP, Columbus): 4.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 7 Ks - Dion retired eight in a row to start his day and helped propel the team to a shutout win on Wednesday evening. The southpaw delivered a season-high seven punchouts in just 4.2 innings. He threw just 65 pitches, 45 of them for strikes, and was able to effectively utilize the fastball at a mark just short of 90 mph on average.
Cooper Ingle (C, Akron): 4-for-5, 2 2Bs, 4 RBIs - Ingle had a phenomenal day where he was 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles. He now has a new career-high with 37 extra-base hits this season with 28 doubles and nine homeruns. Ingle also tied a career-high mark of four RBIs in the win - a mark he recorded several times with the Lake County Captains but never with the Akron RubberDucks until tonight.
Petey Halpin (CF, Columbus): 1-for-5, R, HR, 2 RBIs - Halpin launched his 11th homerun of the season to cap off a four-run fourth inning to pull ahead and Columbus would not look back from there. It was tied for the hardest-hit ball of the game at 103.7 mph off the bat.
Johnathan Rodriguez (LF, Columbus): 1-for-4, RBI, OF assist - Rodriguez had an RBI single to start the scoring and tallied his first outfield assist from left (fourth overall this year). [He's a nice AAA player; after CLE likely DFA's him this fall he should be a popular minor league free agent ]
Milan Tolentino (SS, Columbus): 2-for-3, R, RBI, BB, SB, 3 DPs - Tolentino showcased the defense as well as a part of three double plays for the team and he was the lone player with multiple hits out of the eight overall as a team.
Joe Lampe (LF, Akron): 2-for-3, 2 R, 2 2Bs, RBI, 2 BBs, SB - Lampe would join Ingle with two doubles in the game against the Baysox and reached base four total times after he added a pair of walks. He would also make his trips on base count with one steal as well to run his season total to 12.
Jorge Burgos (1B, Akron): 1-for-5, 2 RBIs - Burgos extended his lead in the Eastern League RBI total (73) thanks to a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to further widen the gap between Akron and Chesapeake.
Tyresse Turner (3B, Akron): 1-for-2, R, BB, SAC, 2 SBs - Turner made each of his at-bats count for something after he recorded a hit, walk and sacrifice and he swiped two bags to give him 17 on the season.
Trenton Denholm (SP, Akron): 4.2 IP, 2 H, R, 3 BBs, 7 Ks - Seven punchouts for Denholm matches a season-high that he has hit multiple times this year, but none in this few of innings. The right-hander had to work around traffic in the first inning and then a leadoff double came back to bite him as the reliever surrendered an inherited run, but back-to-back strikeouts before exiting helped to limit the damage.
Matt Wilkinson (SP, Lake County): 5.1 IP, 3 H, R, 2 BBs, 3 Ks - The 22-year-old had previously failed to enter the fifth inning in each of his last three starts, but on Wednesday made it all the way into the sixth after he limited traffic on the basepaths. He too would fall victim to an inherited runner scoring on his ledger.
Ryan Cesarini (LF, Lake County): 1-for-4, R, HR, RBI - In his first game with the Captains, Cesarini launched a solo homerun for his first High-A hit, run and RBI and kept the team from being shutout in the loss.

Watch Alfonsin Rosario in Akron. Just promoted from Lake County. Just turned 21 in June. 6' 2" 222 lbs CF or RF, Right Handed batter. Good speed.
Will be in the mix the middle of next summer. Acquired him from Cubs for Eli Morgan.

SCOREBOARD
Gwinnett Stripers 4, Columbus Clippers 3
Akron RubberDucks 5, Chesapeake Baysox 3
Lake County Captains 7, Dayton Dragons 5
Lynchburg Hillcats at Carolina Mudcats (PPD)
DSL Guardians Mendoza 9, DSL Tampa Bay 8
DSL Guardians Goryl 7, DSL Brewers Blue 4
HIGHLIGHTS
Kahlil Watson (CF, Columbus): 1-3, HR, RBI, 2BB - It’s been an expected struggle for Watson, acclimating to Triple-A. But he hit his second homer and managed to draw a pair of walks without a strikeout, so that’s a good step. Hopefully this promotion has Watson feeling a little more positive about his place in the organization.

Travis Bazzana (2B, Akron): 1-3, 2B, BB, SB - Bazzana was on base twice and only one hit, but he still filled up the box score and made an impact. He's pretty much playing five of six games a week again, running again, and still finding extra base success. Everything is trending up for Bazzana even if he’s not scorching hot and tearing through the level.
Cameron Barstad (C, Akron): 3-4, 2B, RBI - Barstad isn’t known for his bat, but this was a nice performance. Perhaps Cleveland can find a way to just have Barstad play at catcher the rest of the way in Akron full time and move Cooper Ingle up to Columbus where he needs to be.
Jacob Cozart (C, Lake County): 3-5, 2B, HR, 2 RBI - There was a brief stretch in July where Cozart looked like he was going to go on a run and take off in High-A, but he’s fallen back to earth so it’s good to see him bust out of that with a good game here.
Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lake County): 2-6, HR, RBI, 3K - Strange to see so many strikeouts for Knapczyk. He had that heater earlier in the year but hasn’t come close to anything similar to sustain that. But this was a nice game for him overall.
Nomar Velasquez (3B, Mendoza): 3-5, 2 R, 1 SB - While he doesn't have an extra-base hit this month, Velasquez is off to a hot start to August in terms of volume with two three-hit games out of four played (part of a five-game hit streak).
Robert Alvarez (C, Mendoza): 2-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K - Alvarez’s two-run double in the first brought his August RBI total to three in nine plate appearances (now at 13 following the game), equaling his output from 47 July PAs.
Alejandro Blasco (2B, Mendoza): 2-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 E - Blasco broke out of a three-game 0-for-11 drought in grand fashion with a pair of hits including his first home run of the season.
Ricardo Romero (2B, Goryl): 3-4, 3 R, 1 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 HBP, 1 SB - Romero’s Thursday statline was all about the number 3: Three hits, three runs, three RBI, and his third stolen base of the season. All of it added up to a rookie season-high eight total bases. A fitting number as 8 kinda looks like a forward 3 and backward 3 overlapping.
Steven Cruz (RF, Goryl): 3-5, 1 2B, 1 K - While Cruz’s three-hit game was not as flashy as Romero’s, it was his first as a professional and extended his on-base streak to 13 games.
Angel Abreu (LF, Goryl): 2-5, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 SB - Abreu has reached twice in each of the three games that he has played this month, part of a 14-game on-base streak during which he has reached safely multiple times in 13 contests (exception being July 31 at Pirates Gold).
Josh Perez (SP, Goryl): W (1-1), 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R (earned), 3 BB, 3 K - Perez’s second five-inning start of his pro career netted him his first individual victory in the DSL. While his statline is not exactly impressive (3.91 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 20:18 K:BB ratio), he is nearly untouchable when he gets out of the opening frame. Excluding the two starts (June 27 and July 24) when he was knocked out before completing an inning, those numbers become 1.11, 1.11, and 20:12.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Petey Halpin (LF, Columbus): 1-5, HR, RBI, 2K, OF assist - Halpin has 12 homers and really enjoys hitting at the friendly confines of Huntington Park.
Aaron Davenport (SP, Columbus): 6IP, 6H, 2ER, 2BB, 4K - Solid effort by Davenport against a decent lineup in Gwinett. He still looks like he’s best suited to be a reliever at the next level if he gets there, because of size and velocity. But solid efforts in Columbus are a nice sign for him for that future even.
Cooper Ingle (DH, Akron): 1-3, 2B, BB - Ingle continues to be on an extra base tear and is taking his walks. Really, offensively there’s not much to prove at Double-A for him at this point.
Tyresse Turner (3B, Akron): 1-2, 2B, 2BB - Turner isn’t known for his bat either but had a nice day here getting on base three times.
Jaison Chourio (DH, Lake County): 2-6, 2K - The two hits keep Chourio with a modest run here lately where we are seeing better offense, but two strikeouts in the other four at bats are concerning.
Nick Mitchell (CF, Lake County): 0-2, 3BB, SB - No hits, but Mitchell continues to show patience and adds speed on the bases in the midst of an adjustment period in High-A.
Tyler Naquin (RP, Lake County): IP, 2H, 2ER - Naquin allowed his first runs in High-A this season. His ERA still stands at a nice two here though.
Luis Garcia (DH, Mendoza): 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB - After picking up a pair of bases in each of his first two games of the month via doubles, Garcia rebounded from an 0-for-4 Monday with another two-base effort - this time on a pair of singles.
Carlos Caripa (LF, Mendoza): 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, Picked Off 1 time - Caripa’s back-to-back two-hit games have seen him get four hits in nine at-bats over three days, nearly equaling the five he hit in 26 at-bats over the previous 24 days.
Julio Rossi (RP, Mendoza): S (1), 1 IP, 1 H - Rossi picked up his first professional save on Thursday at the second time of asking (blew an opportunity on July 26 at Brewers Gold).
Gustavo Baptista (1B, Goryl): 2-2, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 HBP, 1 SB - Baptista reached safely in ll five plate appearance on Thursday to extend his career-opening productive plate appearance streak to 36 games, although he probably wishes he did so in less painful fashion.
Wuinder Torres (C, Goryl): 1-5, 2 RBI, 2 K - Torres’ two-RBI performance was his second in four August efforts and third in his last seven games.
Amilcar Teran (RP, Goryl): S (1), 1 IP, perfect, 2 K - Like his Mendoza counterpart Rossi, Teran hurled a scoreless ninth to pick up his first pro save in his second opportunity (Amilcar’s blown save came on July 14 against the Rockies at the Guardians Academy).

Jaison Chourio has been listed among the top 3 or 4 Guardians prospects since the end of last season.
This year he is in competition for the lowest Isolate Power in the minors. In 242 plate appearances with Lake County he has managed 4 doubles and one homer. That works out to "Isolated Power" [SLB over AVG] of 036

Remarkably unproductive season from the team's top 10 prospects. Other than Kayfus and Ingle. But Ralphy Velazquez has really turned around his season; with 3 hits yesterday including his 20th double, his average is up to a season high 241 and OPS to 767.
Since July 1 the numbers are very solid: 112 AB 36 H 8 doubles 1 triple 5 homers 21 RBI 13 walks 18 strikeouts 321/392/545

Scoreboard:
Gwinnett Stripers 3, Columbus Clippers 2 - Statcast
Akron RubberDucks 4, Chesapeake Baysox 3
Lake County Captains 6, Dayton Dragons 1
Carolina Mudcats 3, Lynchburg Hillcats 1
DSL Rojos 4, DSL Guardians Mendoza 3 (F/8 - G1)
DSL Rojos 12, DSL Guardians Mendoza 5 (F/7 - G2)
DSL Astros Orange 11, DSL Guardians Goryl 6
Highlights:
Jhonkensy Noel (starting RF, Columbus): 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K - Big Christmas continued to Big Christmas on Friday night, driving in both of the Clipper runs, doing so on both the softest Clipper base hit of the day (a 77.8 MPH single in the first) and the hardest (a 107.1 MPH double in the ninth).
Parker Messick (SP, Columbus): L (5-5), 6.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R (all earned), 9 K, 1 HR allowed - While the end result was the continuation of the maddening alternation of scoreless and multi-run outings that has remained unbroken back to May 31, the statline is far from telling the story of the majority of Messick’s second longest start of the season. Through six frames, a second-inning solo shot off the bat of Stripers 1B Matthew Batten was all that prevented Messick from a perfect eight-strikeout effort. Then the seventh happened. The issue seems to have been a mix of facing the Gwinnett order for the third time and limiting his pitch arsenal to his four-seamer and changeup, going away from his sinker and slider (the latter of which earned him five of his Triple-A third-best 13 whiffs - including the only time he threw it in the seventh). It certainly wasn’t a velocity issue as his five fastest four-seam fastballs and three fastest changeups came in the ill-fated frame.

Ralphy Velazquez (DH, Lake County): 3-5, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K - The weather isn’t the only thing hot this August. Velazquez is slashing .345/.441/.517 with six RBI in seven games this month - part of an eight-game hit streak and eleven-game on-base streak.
Ryan Cesarini (RF. Lake County): 2-5, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 3B - Cesarini’s first multi-extra-base hit game of the season brought his total bases for the series to ten in 14 official at-bats.
Juan Benjamin (3B, Lake County): 2-5, 1 R, 2 2B - Benjamin broke out of an 0-for-6 start to the series with a pair of doubles - his first extra-base hits since July 19.
Jaison Chourio (LF, Lake County): 2-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K - While much of July was an offensive desert for Chourio (3-for-29 between July 13-27), he has been in a tear since July 29 (15-40 with seven RBI despite a pair of doubles being his only extra-base hits of said stretch).
Caden Favors (SP, Lake County): W (5-8), 5 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 K - Favors has been both efficient and effective in his last three starts, going a combined 17 frames, allowing only on earned run on nine hits and three walks while striking out 13 - including eleven in as many frames over his last two outings. If he can keep this up and finish strong, it would be an excellent springboard into a likely Double-A campaign in 2026.
Juneiker Caceres (CF, Lynchburg): 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K, Picked Off 1 time, 2 Outfield Assists - Caceres has been impressive in his first two weeks of non-complex ball (well, week and two-thirds). He has at least one hit in each of his six games and is slashing .417/.462/.667 (Yes, it’s a small sample size, but it’s an indication that the higher level of competition and playing in front of fans isn’t fazing him.). Oh, and he threw out a pair of runners from the outfield last night, including one at the plate).
Cam Walty (RP, Lynchburg): 4 IP, 4 H, 1 R (earned), 7 K - As Walty’s rookie season progresses, his outings continue to get longer. Last night saw him hurl a dominant bulk relief outing in his second four-frame effort with a career-high seven strikeouts nearly doubling his previous rookie season-best of four.
Delni Uribe (SP, DSL Mendoza - G1): 6.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, ER, 2 BBs, 3 Ks, DP - Uribe did a great job of giving the DSL Mendoza squad some length with six complete innings where he allowed just two hits and an error allowed an unearned run to come across in the fourth. This marks the longest outing of his professional career and Uribe is still in search of his first pitching win despite this being his best opportunity.
Wuinder Torres (1B, DSL Goryl): 2-for-4, R, 2B, 3B, 2 RBIs - Torres had a pair of extra-base hits with a double in the second that led to a run and a triple that scored two in the third. He nearly scored himself but was thrown out at home on the play going for the inside the park homerun. The 18-year-old has driven in six runs over his last five games and has a hit in seven of his last eight.
Notable Performances
Petey Halpin (CF, Columbus): 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 K - Halpin extended his team-leading doubles total 21 with a 105.5 MPH line drive to right to start the night at the plate for the Clip Show.
Alfonsin Rosario (CF, Akron): 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K - Rosario’s first Double-A homer gave the RubberDucks an early lead and proved to be the difference between victory and defeat for the Mallards of Main Street.
Joe Lampe (LF, Akron): 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 SF, 1 K - Lampe was similarly instrumental in last night’s Akron victory, both at the plate (driving in a run on a third-inning sac fly and scoring the eventual game winning run on a Cameron Barstad single in the sixth) and in the field (making a spectacular catch to end the game with the potential tying run on third. Joe probably wishes the Ducks could play the Baysox every week as he is 4-for-10 with three doubles, three RBI, and two walks this week.
Travis Bazzana (2B, Akron): 1-3, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 K - Bazzana scored both times he reached base yesterday - first as the baserunner driven in on Rosario’s two-run blast and later on the Lampe sac fly.
Rodney Boone (SP, Akron): 2 IP, 1 BB, 2 K - Boone was dominant in his return from the IL.
Tommy Mace (RP, Akron): W (10-6), 5.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R (earned), 3 BB, 5 K, 1 HR allowed - Mace’s first one-run effort since June 14 saw him pitch into the sixth inning for his second straight outing.
Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lake County): 2-5, 1 R, 1 BB - Knapczyk extended his hit streak to five games with his second two-hit effort in as many days.
Kevin Rivas (1B. Lake County): 1-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K - Rivas drove in the first two runs and scored another while batting ninth. The fact that this wasn’t a highlight speaks to the Captains’ dominance in Dayton on Friday.
Xavier Martinez (RP, Lake County): 1 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 K - Not exactly a drama-free eighth, but Martinez struck out the side (doubling his High-A K total) to remain unscored upon in his first five innings (three outings) as a Captain. Not bad for a rookie.
Jose Pirela (LF, Lynchburg): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI - Pirela’s second-inning solo shot to right gave the Hillcats an early 1-0 lead…and their only run of the game.
Angel Perez (RP, Lynchburg): 1 IP, 2 H, 1 K - Perez, like Caceres, is off to a good start to his non-complex career, allowing only one earned in his first five innings (four outings) as a Hillcat
Carlos Caripa (RF, DSL Mendoza - G1): 1-for-2, R, 2B, RBI, SAC - The right fielder Caripa had the lone extra-base hit for the DSL Mendoza team in game one. His RBI double in the fifth plated one and then he scored himself later in the frame to tie the ballgame and send it to an extra inning.
Robert Alvarez (C, DSL Mendoza - G2): 2-for-3, RBI, BB - The 17-year-old had multiple hits for the second time in the last three games after having only three for the first 28 games of the DSL season. He drove in the team’s first run of game two with a single to left in the fourth.
Luis Garcia (2B, DSL Mendoza - G2): 1-for-4, R, 2B, RBI - Garcia sparked a three-run top of the fifth with his RBI double to get the team back to within two runs, but were unable to complete the comeback.
Israel Alvarez (3B, DSL Goryl): 2-for-4, R, 2B, RBI, DP - The 17-year-old switch hitter had multiple hits as well to join Torres and drove in a run with his double in the top of the second.
Angel Abreu (SS, DSL Goryl): 1-for-4, R, 2B, BB, SB - Abreu extended his on-base streak to 15 consecutive games with a double and a walk for the lead-off man on Friday.
